School

In Lappeenranta, there are 4 highschools. One of them is our penfriends' school named Kimpisen lukio. Finnish shool system is very different from our school system. First, they begin earliest at 8 and finnish at about 3 o'clock. A lesson lasts an hour and 15 minutes. Between each lesson, they have 15 minutes of break. After 3 lessons, they eat at 12:15 and then have 2 lessons left.
The work atmosphere is really stressedless :
- they can use their phone (listening to music, sending message)
- they can eat and drink
- they can talk to their friends
In fact, they are very free. They just do what they want and the teachers don't keep under them. But they should listen and work because they have 6 weeks lessons to prepare a exam week.

In addition, the school is very modern. it's quite new, they have a lot of electronics stuffs as ipad to search informations on the net during lessons.
We went in differents lessons with our penfriends : french, geography, finnish, maths, philosophy, religion and biology.

At twelve, we went eating at the cafeteria which is free. We ate salad with a pasta gratin, like bolognaise pastas. It was quite good. The cafeteria is a self, so the students can go serve themselves an other time. But something was weird for us : there was no dessert!!!! But it was a good lunch for beginning our first afternoon.

Impressed by the freedom of students there, seems that it pays. Looking at PISA (Program for International Student Assessment), Finish students always rank far before France. I would be interested to learn about other differences with French school system.
