All finish people has one in his home. This is the same word in finnish but we pronounce it saona. It consist to stay in a very hot closed room (between 60 and 100 degrees) during 20 or 30 minutes. The room is made of pine wood. It is heated by a wood pile and you must wait an hour or more to have the great temperature. There is a bucket of water in the sauna and you can throw some water on the wood pile to make the room hotter. When you go out of the sauna, you must take a cold shower or you can roll youreself in the snow or you can go swimming in the 10 degrees lake. As you want…
Lappeenranta University of Technology

We played an intercultural game in order to learn more about several countries.
(the winners)
Then we drunk some typical drink called Sima (finnish people all drink it on the 1st of May).
After that, we went to the university restaurant and ate all together.
We had the oppurtinity to attend to conferences about two different topics : business and maths.
Math was interesting but buisness was a little bit boring because we prefer scientific lessons.
At the end the headmaster gave us traditionnal finnish candies, it was special like every candies in finland.
We didn't really appreciated.

Dance Spring Show
On Thursday evening, from 6.00 PM to 8.00 PM, we saw a dance show in which dances some of the students of our school and especially Verna, Inès' exchange partner.
The show was composed of dances made by differents groups. There were many different type of dance, from classical dance (with boys !! ) to break dance, passing by modern dance and house dance. This was very interesting and some dances were even funny ! For example one of the dance was a parody of classical dance, another ones were using famous characters from films, like James Bond, The Pink Panther, Marie Popins, Kill Bill, Snow-White, Harry Potter, Spiderman, and some little cats.
All the dancers were wearing beautiful costums and they were all smiling. The choregraphies were very done and even if some of the dancers were beginners and so didn't have so much technique, it used visual effects which made the show very enjoyable.
Many dancers were stunning and we all appreciate this show.

Houses in Finland
In Finland, the most of the houses are built either in wood or either in red briks.
They all have a ladder on their roof which is used to get out of the house when it's in fire or just in order to help the sweeper. Finnish houses don't have any shutter, insted, they have a special kind of stores.
Each houses has a sauna and in order to go to this sauna we have to pass through a big shower which is as big as the room. Because the shower is so big, the other par of the bathroom is in the toilets.

Town war and hand ball
Thursday morning - 9h00 - today with the Finnish students we do a game, a new game for lots of French people. At the beginning we have to build like a "city" with sport equipements to hide ourself. The aim of this game is catch a little bag in the ennemy side, To do this, we have a lot of balls and with these we can touch the members of the other team, when we touch someone he has to leave the game. The game is finish when a team take is bag.
There are three teams and we play against the two other teams, one composed of Finnish students and they are so strong, they win all the time.
It's a good game, really funny but too violent I think ... :P

Bags
14:30, In the School Art.
Divided in two groups of eleven french students, we are all sitting in front of our imaculate bag. Wearing an old shirt, we feel like artist.
The finnish art teacher distribute markers, different kind of papers, paintbrush without forgetting, of course, the painting.
Now, we can begin to express our creativity. All incrediblely focus on our work, we draw and paint, and the time seems to be stopped. Rappidely, bags are covered with painting, and on each bags we can find all colors of the rainbow. Our imagination seems to have no limit. Each bag is unique and reflecting perfectly the complexe personality of his designer. Here, there is a graceful tree, there, a cute seal, just in front of me, a complex mixing of color, and at the back of the room there is even an Angry Bird !
I look quickly at the clock. What ?! It's already half past three ! Time flies...
We must clean the tables. Whereas I wash my paintbrush full of painting, some of the people take advantage of their last instant as an artist by trying painting on student face.
However, the teachers were not really enthusiastic about this new kind of activity, and everybody have to take off their old shirt.
It is the end of this funny activity, and we will all keep these bags as a souvenir of our amazing trip in Finland.

Museums in Lappeenranta
At first we made two groups in order to visit the museums of Lappeenranta. At first we visited the art (taide in finnish) museum of Lappeenranta which theme was human being. The art teacher of the hight school made us work on two paintings and one sculpture. We had to write down the first word that came when we saw the art work. Then we made 4 groups and we had to write a poem with the words which were on the papers. Finally we had to read to the others when they were looking at the art work.
Then we went to the South Karelia museum which relate the history of Lappeenranta from prehistory to today. It explains the origin of Saimaa lake. It is the biggest lake of Finland and the fourth one in the world. At the beginning the total area of Scandinavia was covered by ice. It melt step by step and create a sea. The ground rose continually during hundreds years and went in the Baltic Sea. This phenomena explains the formation of the lake and the presence of seals. An inhabitant of Lappeenranta took photos with a smartphone some years ago.
Then we saw a model of Viipuri. There were some clothes too and a model of the old city of Viipuri (now in Russia) with the fortress.
