Museums in Lappeenranta

At first we made two groups in order to visit the museums of Lappeenranta. At first we visited the art (taide in finnish) museum of Lappeenranta which theme was human being. The art teacher of the hight school made us work on two paintings and one sculpture. We had to write down the first word that came when we saw the art work. Then we made 4 groups and we had to write a poem with the words which were on the papers. Finally we had to read to the others when they were looking at the art work.

Then we went to the South Karelia museum which relate the history of Lappeenranta from prehistory to today. It explains the origin of Saimaa lake. It is the biggest lake of Finland and the fourth one in the world. At the beginning the total area of Scandinavia was covered by ice. It melt step by step and create a sea. The ground rose continually during hundreds years and went in the Baltic Sea. This phenomena explains the formation of the lake and the presence of seals. An inhabitant of Lappeenranta took photos with a smartphone some years ago.
